CottonCrab Clothing: Behind the Brand

CottonCrab Clothing

Behind the Brand

Where Did It All Start?:

This brand was created during the lockdown period due to COVID-19 and launched in August 2020.  Natalie Robinson, the founder of CottonCrab Clothing, had learned a lot about the world, herself, and came to the realization of the impact she was having within her community and the environment, near and far.

How Are Your Clothes Made?:

The two companies Natalie works with that supply her products are committed to manufacturing in a responsible, sustainable, and ethical way.  They operate under the strictest environmental certifications, respecting the people that make the clothing and the world that we live in.  The first company is UK-based with a factory in Tamil Nadu, Southern India. The second company is based in Belgium with a factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh.  These companies are GOTS certified, which means the entire production chain process from the very start to the product's final destination is monitored.  The GOTS certification also ensures compliance with the labor standards of the International Labour Organization and the Fair Wear Foundation.  They have Organic Content Standard (OCS) and OCS 100 certification by the Textile Exchange.  OCS is a global non-profit that works closely with its members to drive industry transformation in preferred fibers, integrity, standards, and responsible supply networks.  OCS 100 means that the product contains 95% or more organic material.  They are also PETA certified and have a Global Recycled Standard label which certifies that the materials used are recycled.  The company that prints the logo and designs are UK based, their printers use only water-based vegan inks.  They are OEKO-TEX approved, therefore the inks don't contain any regulated or unregulated chemicals harmful to health or the environment.  They also offset their Carbon footprint by funding the planting of trees in the North West of England.

The Inspiration:

The designs are inspired by the environment, using a person and incorporating nature, for example, foliage elements.  The design is an art form called One Line Art, which is a drawing made with just one line.  Natalie likes to use small independent designers.  Natalie's current design was made by Ardi of Indonesia.  If you would like to know more about Ardi please check them out on Instagram @linein_onelineart

In Conclusion:

Natalie Robinson, Founder of CottonCrab Clothing, aims every day to introduce and wear organic cotton clothing and other sustainable products into her personal life so that she can educate herself and then share the knowledge she has gained and continues to learn with others.  If you haven't visited CottonCrab Clothing's website please click on the link below and visit their Instagram page.  To shop, use the link in their bio.  You won't regret adding organic cotton clothing to your wardrobe.
