RAWSON: Behind the Brand

RAWSON

Behind the Brand

Where Did It All Start?:

RAWSON's beginning was in 2014 selling thrifted clothing - mostly denim, linen, and cotton basics - in local boutiques and neighborhood popups.  In 2016, they expanded to selling on Etsy and acquiring as many multiples of vintage items as possible to create a cohesive collection.  Since then, they have continued to expand the notion of multiples by finding similar objects and dyeing them in seasonal colors with low-impact dye.

How Are Your Clothes Made?:

There is no production at all - everything is sourced from various suppliers who have stored these items for 20, 50, and sometimes up to 70 years.  Their work involves researching historical basics - tanks, tees, high rise pants - and searching for similar vintage variations.  They wash, mend, and/or dye the garments that have issues to extend the life of them.  Focusing on providing items that can fit into a modern wardrobe but do not feed into the current fast fashion landscape.

The Inspiration:

They typically have an ongoing mood board that reflects and informs the choices that are made in terms of bringing styles in.  Once those styles are acquired, they sort, clean, and photograph with contemporary footwear and accessories to allow the viewer to imagine the piece in a modern wardrobe.

In Conclusion:

The overall goal of Rawson is to find items that have little value in their current state but can be brought back to life with mending or styling.  Then they make available these garments available to complement a working person's modern wardrobe.  If you haven't visited their website yet, use the link below to shop now and add one of their unique pieces to your wardrobe.
