Wool&: Behind the Brand
Wool&
Behind the Brand
Where Did It All Start?:
Wool& launched in the fall of 2018. The founder of the company, Mac Bishop, already had a line of men's merino clothing called Wool&Prince. Their small team's idea was to make a sister brand for women featuring dresses that would be practical, wearable, and entirely made from merino wool. Since then, Wool& has expanded into other categories such as leggings and biker shorts, and launched Wool&Kids and Wool&Home.
How Are Your Clothes Made?:
For Wool& it all starts with fabric development. Partnering with textile experts in the spinning mills enables Wool& to make top quality, unique merino wool fabrics you cannot find anywhere else. Every fabric so far has been custom developed from their soon to be traceable wool. Wool& sources their wool from farms that follow recognized standards relating to animal welfare and eco-friendly land management practices. When needed, other materials are added (like nylon) to increase the durability of their garments so that they last longer and are easier to care for. Currently Wool& is working to replace nylon with an equally durable natural fiber such as hemp.
The Inspiration:
Much of their inspiration comes from the great outdoors. The colors often reflect those found in nature and especially the scenery around the Pacific Northwest. As for the silhouettes, Wool& aims to design pieces that are comfortable and empowering for every body type. Wool& does its best to ensure their garments are durable, timeless silhouettes that work seamlessly with your unique style.
Sustainability:
Wool& believes that owning less is the most effective way to reduce our individual footprints. They are founded on the idea that women get more out of life when they have fewer things. Merino wool is the key to owning less clothing, since it remains fresher for longer compared to other fibers. Very soon after Wool& launched, 13 women wore their dress for 100 days straight. This 100 Day Challenge confirmed that wool is a performance fabric with remarkable odor-resistant properties. Wool& packaging has been plastic free since their very first shipment. All packaging made from post-consumer waste and completely curbside recyclable. You can read more about their sustainable practices by clicking here.
In Conclusion:
Wool& is a brand focused on breaking the pattern of buying clothes that we never end up wearing. Instead, they aim to be the most worn item in your closet and making "what to wear?" the easiest question of your day.
