Clear, Hydrated Skin: Parsley Water


Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • One bunch of organic flat-leaf parsley
  • 2 lemons, rind removed.  Leave the white pith underneath the rind.
  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 5 cups of water

Directions:

Use a high-power blender like a Vitamix.  
  • Pour five cups of water into the blender
  • Add three tablespoons of honey
  • Rinse and pat dry one bunch of parsley
  • Add one bunch of parsley to the blender including the stems
  • Add two cut lemons in half with the rind removed and add to blender
  • Add two peeled and chopped apples to the blender
  • Blend
  • After blending thoroughly, get a glass measuring cup set a metal mesh strainer on top of the measuring cup, and start pouring the parsley water through the strainer.
  • Use a spoon to move around the parsley water to get all the liquid through the strainer.
  • Then pour off the liquid into a glass mason jar for storing in your fridge.
This makes half a gallon of parsley water.  My hubby and I typically drink it within one week of me making it, so I am not sure how long it will last in the fridge before it starts going bad.  I haven't done this yet but you could even freeze the parsley water for later if you want to make a lot at one time.

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Rich in Vitamin C
  • Can help aid digestion
  • High chlorophyll content 
  • Freshens breath and kills bacteria

Sustainable:

One of the many things I like about this drink is that making it is sustainable or promotes sustainability.  Any leftover scraps from the lemon and apples or even the pulp from after you have strained the water could be composted.  Instead of using just part of the bunch of parsley, you use the whole thing, nothing wasted.  Choosing glass over plastic when storing your parsley water.
