Six Sustainable Shoe Brands

Searching for that perfect shoe can be challenging, and finding something comfortable and stylish can seem impossible.  I compiled this list of six sustainable shoe brands for your reference.  I personally own and wear five out of the six shoe brands listed.  I would love to learn about other sustainable shoe brands so please share any you know of and have tried in the comments below.

1. SARAH FLINT

Ethics | women-owned, artisan-made in Italy, small batch production, 100% plastic-free packaging, launched a Sustainable Steps Collection

Best For | Luxury shoes

Product Range | Women's pumps, sandals, flats, boots

Price Range | $350 - $995

Sarah Flint's shoes are a timeless, accessible luxury for everyone, with direct-to-consumer pricing, avoiding the wholesale markup.  I personally own, as shown in the picture, the Perfect Block Sandal 60 in the color Sand Calf.  Having high arches I've always struggled to find comfortable dressy shoes, however, the anatomical arch support provided by the shaped insole of these sandals is the first pair of heeled shoes I've owned that are as comfortable as my Birkenstocks.  Sarah Flint believes that slow, careful design and craftsmanship make for not only better shoes but better experiences.  Use my code - SARAHFLINT-BANATALIE, for $50 off your first purchase from Sarah Flint.

2. NISOLO

Nisolo created a sustainability facts label for every product they sell that provides greater transparency to you as the consumer.  Beautifully designed, hand-made shoes that come in classic styles to keep you looking timeless.  Made to last you for a lifetime.  I personally own the All-Weather Amalia Boot, as shown in the picture, in the color Tobacco.  These boots are perfect for those who love to hike in style, featuring waterproof leather upper and shock-absorbing rubber soles.

Aspect Climate Projects uses plant-based materials such as coconut husks and pineapple leaves to build a shoe that is made to last and works with the environment.  Their shoes are 100% vegan, meaning no animal products are used.  Their shoes don't contain any metal or backing material which gives their shoes a lighter, more natural feel.  Instead of plastic reinforcements cork and natural latex are used.

6. VIVAIA

Best For | Recycled footwear

VIVAIA has a mission to create sustainable and stylish footwear that is environmentally responsible.  They use recycled water bottles to turn them into the thread to knit the surface material of their shoes.  Mixing natural herbs and PU foam the insole of their shoes is cushiony, supportive, breathable, mold-proof, and moisture-wicking.  Their shoes are hand or machine-washable.  All packaging is recyclable as well.  In the picture, I am wearing their Square Toe Mid Calf Boots that are made of a combination of ethically sourced wool and recycled plastic water bottles.  I like the stretchy material of this boot because it conforms to your calf size and fits snugly.  I also find them comfortable and warm, perfect for the upcoming cooler weather.
