About The Brand 

Acaya Care is a small team that started back in 2020.  While on a business trip in Asia this small team was shocked by the amount of waste they saw generated on the side of roads.  Wanting to help in any way possible to cut down on the waste generated in our everyday lives they noticed the personal care sector was producing an incredible amount of waste, and how little natural and refillable options are available.  The idea then came to create a product that was not only sustainable but also natural and gave better results than mainstream brands using chemicals in their products.  The team started focusing and studying the benefits of different plants and were amazed at how drastically these ingredients when combined with other natural elements improved overall hair health.  Then came how to make this natural personal hair care option available to the public while generating less waste.  The conclusion was to create a waterless and refillable format that ensured product quality and cut down on daily waste.  Going waterless means no added preservatives, no negative hair effects, more ingredient effectiveness, and the reduction of C02 emissions, given the light weight of the products.

Most conventional hair products cover and seal damaged cuticles with synthetic substances such as silicones creating a fictitious effect that your hair is soft and healthy but are in fact purely artificial because of the external film covering your hair.  

However, hair products that are formulated with only natural ingredients will provide nourishment and hydration, and are safe for colored or chemically treated hair.

 

All of Acaya Care's hair products are formulated with natural ingredients and are free of parabens, silicones, petrolatum, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances.  They are also vegan, containing no animal or animal-derived ingredients, and cruelty-free. 

Each aluminum bottle comes with a powder that is activated by adding water.  Without the weight of the water in the bottle, it reduces the weight of the product during shipping which in turn helps to reduce carbon emissions.  Once you're finished with the bottle you can order a refill so that you can continue to use the same bottle without having to ever buy another bottle again.

Did I Notice Any Differences To My Hair?

I wash my hair once a week.  I have been using this shampoo and conditioner for a little over one month.  I noticed a difference just after the first use but especially after the second use, I let my hair air dry both times and you could see my natural wave more, my hair wasn't tangled, and felt soft.  You can see that in the pictures I posted on Instagram by clicking here.  I like to massage the conditioner into my scalp and I find that this helps my scalp to itch less.  I have highlights that I am growing out but I didn't notice a change in their color.  Instead, it seems that others notice my blonde highlights more than they did before, which indicates to me the color is more vibrant now than before using this shampoo and conditioner.  I am sensitive to scented products even naturally scented ones but both of these have beautiful fragrances that don't give me a head or stomach ache.

In Conclusion:

I am pleased with both products and have already bought my next set of refills.  I like that this is an affordable option, not wasteful, and vegan.  I still like shampoo and conditioner bars for convenience when traveling but I prefer this formula over bars.
